Bio

Born in Denmark, raised in Greenland, trained in music and economics, formally educated in art management in Paris, spent seven years making artwork in Manila, now painting in Zurich.

I grew up in Nuuk, Greenland, left for music school in Denmark in my early twenties, and somehow ended up with a degree in economics before finding my way to Paris to study art management. It was in Paris that painting stopped being something I had done and became something I needed to do.
Manila changed everything else. From 2015 to 2022, I lived inside one of the most energetically alive art scenes I’ve encountered — hectic, curious, generous in a way I hadn’t experienced in Europe or Greenland. My work found its shape there. I had a solo exhibition in 2016, worked with Art Basel Hong Kong and various international galleries, and spent those years genuinely immersed rather than observing from the outside.

Since 2022, I’ve been in Zurich — a sharp contrast in almost every way. The quiet here suits a different kind of working: slower, more introspective, more willing to sit with a question rather than push toward resolution. Switzerland has given me the space to rethink what I’m actually doing and why.
I’m careful about how I invoke my Greenlandic background. It’s part of how I see the world, but I’d rather it surface through the work than serve as a label. What interests me more is the accumulation of all of it — the migrations, the contrasts, the things that don’t quite resolve — and how that finds its way onto the canvas. My practice isn’t aimed at arriving at a final statement. It’s a process of continuous search, and the works, old and new, are markers along the way rather than final outcomes.
